COMPANY PROFILE

Clinical Research Associate Activa Cro is a full-service contract research organization (CRO) with operations in Latin America, that provides the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device industry, with a range of services related to clinical development of health products.

The company was founded in 2003, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and rapidly expanded to Chile in 2004 and Uruguay a couple of years later (2007) becoming a “southern cone” provider.

In 2008 Activa Cro started operations in México DF, and finally Brazil, Perú, Colombia and Panamá was added to the scope of LA countries, conforming a true “regional” CRO.

Activa Cro brings today an experience of more than 50 projects in all clinical phases of development and major therapeutic indications, including Oncology, Hematology, Cardiovascular, Orphan Diseases, CNS, First in Human and Pivotal studies in Medical Devices, with senior project managers that bring an average of 10 years of experience in clinical research operations.

Activa Cro remains and presents itself as a “boutique” CRO, offering personalized products and services.

MARIO BOSKIS-Activa CROMARIO BOSKIS, M.D; FACC
CEO, Founder

Mario Boskis is a medical Doctor, specialized in Cardiology. He is Head of Cardiovascular Units in Buenos Aires and was inducted Fellow of the American College of Cardiology in 2001. Formerly Professor of Human Physiology at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), he has authored/ co-authored more than 30 papers in the cardiovascular field. He introduced for the first time in Argentina Exercise Stress Echocardiography and the first Contrast Echo program, publishing extensively in the Ultrasound imaging field and working as advisor in that area for several international leading companies. He has also worked as principal Investigator in Multinational Clinical Trials in the cardiovascular field. CEO and Founder of Activa Cro since 2003, he is a member of its board of governors since its inception. Dr. Boskis has over 20 years experience in clinical research including pharmaceutical and contract clinical research services, Investigator Initiated Trials and Pharmaceutical Clinical trials. During his leadership, the company expanded from a local organization to a full service regional Latin American CRO.

Mariano Monteagudo-Activa CROMariano Monteagudo, PhD Pharmcologist
Director of Strategic Development, LATAM

With over 14 years of experience in pharmacology and clinical research, he currently leads the business development and customer relations efforts at Activa-CRO, focused on finding the best solution for project success from regulatory, operational and financial perspectives. Mr. Monteagudo received both his Pharmacist and MBA at Pontificia Universidad Catòlica (UCA) Buenos Aires, ARG, and has held a range of positions of increasing responsibility in the CRO industry, including experience in Quintiles, Merck Sharpe & Dohme Laboratory (MSD), GSK Pharmaceutical, MDS Pharma Services, MDS Pharma Services, INC Research and I3. Joining Activa in 2013, he worked as CTM as well as interacting with clinical operation planning and customer relations with Pharmas and CROS.

GABRIEL DESANTO-Activa CROGABRIEL DESANTO, BSc Biochemist

Gabriel Desanto is a clinical research professional with over 15 years of experience within the industry having held varying positions both in pharmaceutical companies and CROs, Having worked across all phases and wide therapeutic areas in the Clinical Trial environment, including activities in safety/ pharmacovigilance, monitoring and project management. For the last 8 years he has been Regional Project Manager and as such, has managed all aspects of clinical protocols in Latin America (including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico). Interacting effectively with other areas and stake-holders (medical, finance & metrics groups,administration,logistics, start- up group, and various vendors, Gabriel was recently promoted to Clinical Operation Director for Latin America, with an active role on supervising all Activa Cro´s clinical activities, helping the internal team and clients to successfully achieve planned goals.

DANIEL BERNASCONI-Activa CRODANIEL BERNASCONI, M.D
Quality Assurance Director, LATAM

Dr Bernasconi has over 15 years’ experience in Clinical Trials. He joined Activa Cro in 2005. He held different operational positions in the company, mostly focused on monitoring and pharmacovigilance activities, until his current position as Director of Quality Assurance. Dr Bernasconi obtained his degree of Medical Doctor at the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where he initially served as resident in Internal Medicine at Instituto Lanari, then member of the medical staff, finally reaching the position of Professor of Internal Medicine at the same Institution. His vast experience in different areas of medical care permits him to oversee the QA needs of the organization as well as the medical training and process improvement of the Clinical Department.

CLELIA MASSAD-Activa CROCLELIA MASSAD, C.P.A, Attorney at Law
Chief Financial Officer

Mrs. Massad is responsible for Activa Cro´s financial & administrative areas. After years of experience as Manager for Deloitte and Touche, she became an expert in finance and management consultancy. CPA and Attorney at law, Clelia is specialized in feasibility analysis and company valuations in both the public and private sector, accumulating experience in different industrial fields, such as energetic resources, food, automotive and pharmaceutical industry, among others. She joined Activa Cro in 2003, as CFO, helping to engineer Activa Cro´s growth as a Latin American CRO.
